Our crafting life is about what you would expect for a family of four living less than 1000 square feet. But sometime the stars and the baby's naps align and we can dig out two years of crayons and strip them down, and break them up, and experiment with the microwave, the oven, icecube trays and cupcake tins, graters and wax paper and...

And it really was a very good day. Once the baby was down for the night, we made this

Tomorrow we go up to the city, to the Japanese Tea Garden, to Flax, and to Bi-Rite Creamery.

Blessings on the Y! I do not know how I could keep my sanity without one of the few affordable childcare options in Silicon Valley. I can exercise, shower and take a sauna for the low, low price of $3.00 per hour, per child. When the husband is out of town for 9 days and the trusted baby-sitter is in Germany for the summer, when baby wakes up before I do and when he naps big sister leaps at the chance for some mommy time, when once both kids are in bed and finally asleep, all I can manage is loading the dishwasher -I need the Y. For a little while, I belong to myself.
